Nursing Pathophysiology

Prepares the learner in care of clients across the Lifespan with alterations in cardiovascular, respiratory, hematological, endocrine, immune, neurological, musculoskeletal, digestive, renal and reproductive disorders. (Prerequisite: 10-806-177 Gen Anatomy & Physiology)

Nursing Pharmacology

This course introduces the principles of pharmacology, including drug classifications and their effects on the body. Nursing Skills-Review

Focuses on review of both basic and advanced nursing skills. Includes physical assessment techniques, elimination methods, parenteral and non-parenteral medication administration, suctioning techniques, tracheostomy care, wound care, chest tube care, central line care, IV insertion, NG tube and more. Also includes care plan and math review.

Nutrition

1 cr.

Focuses on the major nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins and water) in the planning of well-balanced diets and the nutritional analysis of well-balanced diets. (Prerequisite: Acceptance in Culinary Specialist technical diploma or Culinary Management associate degree)

Nutrition and Dental Health

2 cr.

Prepares student dental hygienists to counsel patients about diet and its impact on oral health. Students learn to distinguish between balanced and unbalanced diets and to construct diets that meet the needs of patients with compromised dental/oral health. Students also learn to counsel patients about the effect of eating disorders on dental health. (Prerequisite: 10-806-186, Intro to Biochemistry; 10-508-105 Dental Hygiene Process 1)

Nutritional Health

4 cr.

This course provides fundamental knowledge of nutrition science and relates relevant concepts to chronic disease prevention methods and athletic/fitness performance strategies. Topics covered include: an overview of the macro- and micronutrients, digestion, absorption and elimination processes, weight management, chronic disease states, and sport-specific nutrition strategies. Students will examine dietary assessment and intervention strategies to provide a holistic approach to modern-day barriers of healthy nutrition.

OB/GYN Sonography 1

3 cr.

Prepares learners to perform ultrasounds of the nongravid uterus and the first-trimester pregnancy. Explores the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the female reproductive system as well as intrauterine and ectopic pregnancies. (Prerequisites: Accepted into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; 10-526-210, Cross Sectional Anatomy; 10-526-222, Sonography Physics 2; 10-526-232, Fundamentals of Scanning)

OB/GYN Sonography 2

3 cr.

Prepares learners to perform ultrasounds of the second and third-trimester pregnancy. Explores the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the female pelvis and the developing fetus. (Prerequisite: Accepted into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; 10-526-208, OB/GYN Sonography 1)
