Course Description

10-526-208 OB/GYN SONOGRAPHY 1 ...prepares learners to perform ultrasounds of the nongravid uterus and the first-trimester pregnancy. Explores the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the female reproductive system as well as intrauterine and ectopic pregnancies. (Prerequisites: Accepted into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; 10-526-200, Intro to DMS; ; 10-526-210, Cross Sectional Anatomy; 10-526-222, Sonography Physics 2; Co-Requisite: 10-806-179, Adv Anatomy & Physiology)

  2. Differentiate between normal and pathologic conditions of a first trimester pregnancy
  3. Perform a transabdominal ultrasound of the nongravid female pelvis
  4. Perform an endovaginal ultrasound of the nongravid female pelvis
  5. Obtain measurements of the nongravid uterus and ovaries
  6. Assess interventional techniques used in first-trimester pregnancy
  7. Perform a first-trimester obstetrical ultrasound
  8. Perform an endovaginal ultrasound of the first trimester gravid female pelvis
  9. Obtain measurements for a first trimester obstetrical exam
  10. Evaluate the physiologic effects of the female pelvis with hormonal changes
