Nursing Associate Degree (ADN) graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN Examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Practical Nursing graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN Examination for licensure as a Licensed Practical (LPN).

Nursing Assistant grads are eligible to take the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Competency Exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).

Nursing frequently asked questions

Where can I study nursing through NWTC?

Nursing programs are available at our Green Bay, Marinette, and Sturgeon Bay locations.  For students in the Shawano area, you may choose to complete the first year of the Nursing Associate Degree program right in Shawano.

Are there prerequisites I need to complete?

Each program has different requirements, but many do have prerequisite classes to take before other courses become available to you.  Make sure to schedule accordingly, and reach out to your academic advisor for assistance.

What accreditation do NWTC nursing programs have?

The Nursing Associate Degree and Practical Nursing Technical Diploma are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

NWTC’s nursing degrees are designed to meet the State of Wisconsin's licensing criteria. However, NWTC has not made a determination whether this program meets licensure/certification requirements in states other than Wisconsin. Students who may be seeking professional licensure or certification in states other than Wisconsin should contact the appropriate licensing board in that state to verify that the NWTC program meets licensure or certification requirements. 

Where can I complete my clinicals or get hands-on experience?

Nursing students at NWTC receive extensive classroom, lab, and simulation instruction. Hands-on patient care and clinical opportunities are available at area hospitals, extended care facilities and clinics, and the N.E.W. Clinic located on the Green Bay campus.

What licensing exam do I need to take?

NWTC graduates take the same national licensing exam that four-year college and university grads do. Our graduates consistently score above the national average.
