Line Electrician Field Training 4

This course provides training in transmission, substation operations and maintenance, customer metering, low voltage construction, street lighting, and use of tree trimming methods and tools. (Prerequisite: 31-413-337, Line Electrician Field Training 3)

Line Electrician-Safety 3

1 cr.

This course provides safety procedures in transmission, substation, metering, low voltage construction, and tree trimming methods and tools. Students will also perform related accident reviews. (Prerequisite: 31-413-364 Line Electrician-Safety 2)

Linear Electronics 1: BJT Amplifiers

1 cr.

Review the characteristics of the bipolar junction transistor and Class A, Class AB and Class B bipolar junction transistor amplifiers. (Prerequisites: 10-660-111, Electronics 2: Trans-Basic; 10-660-112, Electronics 3: Op-Amps-Basic; or Instructor Approval)

Linear Electronics 2: JFET Amplifiers

Characteristics of the junction field-effect (JFET) transistor amplifier and types of commonly used field effect transistor amplifiers. (Pre-requisite: 10-605-160, Linear Electronics 1: BJT Amplifiers)

Linear Electronics 3: Passive/Active Filters

Review the characteristics of the passive RL, RC, RLC active filters, introduction to all types of commonly used passive and active filters. (Pre-requisite: 10-605-161, Linear Electronics 2: JFET Amps; 10-660-112, Electronics 3: Op-Amps-Basic)

Linux Scripting

1 cr.

Build upon the Linux skills acquired in Linux Structure by learning shell scripting with Bash. We will look at using Variables, Operators, Decision Making, Loops, Input/Output, Functions, and finally automating administrator tasks. All of this will take place in multiple Linux environments. We will use both Debian and RHEL based Operating Systems. (Corequisite: 10-150-160; Linux Structure)

Linux Structure

2 cr.

An introductory look at the Linux operating system. Installation and configuration; boot up and login process; directory structure purpose/use; maneuvering in the Command Line Interface; understanding Long Directory Listings; Users and Groups; modifying permissions; service installation and management; and troubleshooting. Please be aware, this is a Linux administration course. We will start with and primarily use no GUI (Graphical User Interface). We will primarily be working in the command line. The emphasis of this course is creating a multi-user networked operating system. (Corequisite: 10-150-161, Linux Scripting; Prerequisite: 10-150-200, Cisco Intro; 10-150-177, Windows Client Essentials)

Live Event Production

3 cr.

10-206-155 LIVE EVENT PRODUCTION...setup and operation of location based live switching video production. Location workflow coordination of multiple camera and audio streams, teleprompter, media, crew, and floor management. Emphasis on group-based live video events utilizing multi-camera production.

Livestock Housing & Equipment

3 cr.

Students will learn principles of designing facilities based on the environment, feeding systems, manure handling, ventilation and cow handling. Students will compare and contrast various design options and construction cost estimates. (Prerequisite: 10-091-327, Basic Animal Husbandry)
