Career Fundamentals

Career Pathways Bridge Program HSED 5.09 Option

2 cr.

This course supports students in the pursuit of a secondary credential through the State of Wisconsin High School Equivalency Diploma 5.09 Option and is only available when concurrently enrolled in pursuit of a college credential through Career Pathways Bridge programming.

Course provides an overview of the interconnectedness among careers within Business. Learn how various fields within the broader industry each play an integral role and how a personal brand fits into preparing you for your career choice. (Corequisite: 10-890-101, College 101)

Careers in Digital Arts

Cariology

1 cr.

This course focuses on the characteristics and contributing factors of dental decay. Dental Hygiene students help patients minimize caries risk by developing treatment plans, communicating methods to patients, and evaluating treatment results. (Prerequisites: 10-806-186, Intro to Biochemistry; 10-806-197, Microbiology)

Carpentry Estimating

2 cr.

Basic material and labor cost estimating related to carpentry construction. (Prerequisite: 31-804-304, Vocational Math A)

Carpentry Internship

1 cr.

The application of theory, skills, and techniques in the carpentry profession. (Prerequisite: 10-410-105, Wall Framing)

Catering

2 cr.

An overview of catering including pricing, hiring/managing staff, marketing, planning successful events, preparing safe/attractive food as well as managing the event. (Prerequisite: Acceptance in Culinary Specialist technical diploma or Culinary Management associate degree or Restaurant Management technical diploma or Hospitality Management associate degree).

CCR JumpStart for GED Prep

2 cr.

This course meets the state of Wisconsin orientation requirements for students seeking to complete their high school credential through a General Education Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). Upon completion of Jumpstart to College and Career Readiness for GED Prep, students will be able to schedule GED tests through their GED.com accounts and enroll in College and Career Readiness GED Prep classes at NWTC to begin working on their GED or HSED. Students will also be better positioned to be college and career ready.

CCT Refresher CEU

0.1 cr.

Reinforces Wisconsin paramedics to function as critical care transport team members for critically ill or injured patients requiring transport between facilities. Revitalizes knowledge of special assessment techniques and needs of the critical care patient; the ability to operate and troubleshoot critical care transport equipment; and develop the skills necessary to maintain the stability of critical care patients during transport. This course is necessary to renew the endorsement as a Wisconsin Critical Care Transport Paramedic.

CDL Lab - 10 Hour

0.25 cr.

Students will practice safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and perform behind the wheel activities. Basic vehicle control skills and mastery of basic maneuvers necessary to operate the vehicle safely are covered along with inspection techniques and backing exercises for a commercial motor vehicle.
