Going abroad can be a life-changing, challenging experience you’ll never regret. We want to support you to make it a reality! Being prepared and educated on where you are headed is a big step in the process.
It is important to be aware of the cultural differences about disability and accommodations in order to have a successful and safe experience abroad. Resources and/or accommodations you use here may be different or difficult to access depending on where you are headed. There are some resources on this site that can help you explore options. Also, feel free to discuss questions or concerns with an International Programs staff member, with the staff in Accommodation Services, and/or with the international education organization hosting the program(s) you are considering.
Below are some resources for students with disabilities who are interested in participating on an education abroad program.
Accommodation Services offers assistance to individuals with disabilities. They offer a wide range of services and accommodations to assist students in reaching their educational goals. The Accommodation Services staff will help guide students through their educational experience at NWTC by providing case management and support services.
Mobility International USA (MIUSA) aspires to empower people with disabilities through international exchange, information, technical assistance and training, to ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities in international exchange and development programs.
