Credit for Work/Life Experience

Earn credit for your knowledge and expertise toward your NWTC degree! To be eligible to earn credit for life or work experience, you must be in good standing with the College and accepted into an associate degree, technical diploma, or certificate.

Earn credit by Portfolio or Skills Demonstration

Cost: $90.00 per course

  • Fees are non-refundable regardless of the assessment outcome and cannot be applied to the cost of future tuition, nor eligible for financial aid
  • If two types of credit for prior learning methods are required for one course (for example, a skills demonstration and an exam), the student will only be charged $90.

How to Earn Credit through Portfolio

A CPL portfolio is a collection of reflections, supporting documents, and artifacts (examples of student work). A minimum score of 80% is required to pass.  To get started find a CPL eligible course and view course outcomes.


How to Earn Credit through Skills Demonstration

A CPL skills demonstration is a type of assessment in which a student is performing a specific task and is then graded upon performance quality and accuracy. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass.  To get started find a CPL eligible course and view course outcomes.
 

Credit for Certification or License

In certain situations, knowledge and skills gained as a result of obtaining professional certification or licensure may align to an NWTC class in your degree program.  You may be awarded college credit upon the review of the certificate or license.
