Fire Fighting Principles

4 cr.

Basic fire behavior, techniques for control structural, related fire emergencies, life safety practices; covers practical evolutions necessary to control and extinguish fires; satisfies all requirements for Firefighter 1 state certification. (Prerequisite: Acceptance to Fire Science, Fire Medic or Fire Protection Technician program; Corequisite: 10-503-153, Hazardous Material Operations)

Fire Investigation

3 cr.

Provides learners with the fundamentals and technical knowledge needed for proper fire scene investigations.

Fire Officer II Certified

1 cr.

Prepares the participant to perform firefighting supervisor/manager functions at a minimum nationally recognized level as a company officer. Students must successfully complete Fire Officer Level I, Firefighter II and Emergency Services Instructor I, prior to taking this course.

Fire Prevention

4 cr.

Provides fundamental information regarding the history and philosophy of fire prevention, organization and operation of a fire prevention bureau, use of fire codes, and identification and correction of fire hazards. Meets all requirements for Fire Inspector 1 certification with the State of Wisconsin. (Prerequisites: Fire Fighting Principles (10-503-142 or 10-503-102 or Firefighter I State Certification and advanced standing in Firefighting Principles)

Fire Protection Hydraulics

3 cr.

Provides a foundation of knowledge in order to understand the principles of the use of water in fire protection. Meets all of the requirements for the Driver Operator-Pumper certification with the State of Wisconsin. (Corequisite: 10-804-113, College Technical Math 1A)

Fire Protection Systems

3 cr.

Provides information relating to the features of design and operation of fire detection and suppression systems.

Fire Science Internship

2 cr.

Provides an opportunity for students to perform the duties of a municipal firefighter while serving the typical 24-hour shift, excluding NWTC class periods, at one of several fire departments. Fire department officers evaluate student performance. Department consent required.

Firefighter 1

0.9 cr.

Complete all Level 1 firefighter objectives as identified by NFPA consistent with Wisconsin Technical College System Board course requirements. (Prerequisite: 47-503-710, Entry Level Fire Fighter)

Firefighter-Level 2

1.05 cr.

Complete all Level 2 firefighter objectives as identified by NFPA consistent with Wisconsin Technical College System Board defined standards that comply with ILHR regulations. (Prerequisite: 47-503-721, Firefighter-Level 1)

Firefighter-Level 2

2 cr.

Complete all Level 2 firefighter objectives as identified by NFPA consistent with Wisconsin Technical College System Board defined standards that comply with ILHR regulations. (Prerequisite: 10-503-142, Fire Fighting Principles; 10-503-153, Hazardous Material Operations)

Fixture & Tool Making

3 cr.

The learner will use various types of work holding and locating methods, produce a tool or fixture to be used in a typical manufacturing process. (Prerequisites: 32-420-327, 3D CAM Programming; 32-420-326, EDM & Waterjet Machining; 32-420-336, CNC Machining Center)

Floor Framing Systems

3 cr.

This course teaches all aspects of floor construction and flooring system construction. (Prerequisite: 10-410-110, Construction Blueprint Reading 1)
