Take a Class

Explores questions of identity within various cultural contexts. Writers represent one or more ethnic groups working in one or more genres of literature with emphasis on developments in voice, genre, and style over chronological periods and geographical zones. Individual sections may vary in particular emphasis. (Prerequisite: 10-801-136, English Composition I OR 10-801-195, Written Communication with a "C" or better.)

Learn the event management process, including planning, securing sponsorships, promotion execution, and evaluation of special events (entertainment, industry, meeting/convention). Students will work toward the actual staging of an event (will require time outside of the classroom setting).

Develops an understanding of the functionality and responses of cardiovascular and strength training exercise on the human body. (Prerequisite: 10-546-105, Wellness Kinesiology)

Apply exercise theory to assess and develop interventional wellness-related exercise programs for individuals and groups. Assess exercise risk factors and implement safety measure to assure client safety. (Prerequisite: 10-546-105 Wellness Kinesiology and 10-546-109 Exercise Physiology)

Provides learners the opportunity to analyze the principles of successful experimental design and execution. Learners will apply the steps of the scientific method to design sound experiments based on scenarios from research and industrial settings.

Use GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) to harvest, clean and bring produce to markets. Use season-extending hoop house, compost vegetative residue, sow cover crops, and prepare the garden for next year. (Prerequisite: 10-090-131, Organic Gardening)

Provides a broad understanding of family systems theory and practice relevant to the human services field. Focus is on evaluating the communication and interaction patterns and applying interventions and strategies. (Prerequisite: 10-550-206, Intro to Interview & Counsel)

The importance of good recordkeeping systems, reports, and the records necessary for a small business. Financial analysis techniques are explored through hands-on Income statements and cash flow projections for small businesses.

Explores the theories and fundamentals of how and why fires start, spread, and are controlled Prereq: Firefighting Principles (10503142); Principles Emergency Services (10503191)

Describes basic fire behavior, techniques used to control structural and related fire emergencies, and life safety practices. Students perform all practical evolutions necessary to control and extinguish fires and otherwise meet all requirements for Firefighter I certification with the State of Wisconsin. (Prerequisite: Acceptance to Fire Science, Fire Medic or Fire Protection Technician program; Corequisite: 10-503-153, Hazardous Material Operations)

Prepares the participant to perform fire inspection functions at a minimum nationally recognized level, conduct basic fire inspections, apply codes and standards needed to meet the JPR's in NFPA 1031.

Provides learners with the fundamentals and technical knowledge needed for proper fire scene investigations.
