31-512-326 ST: INFECTION CONTROL ...covers the structure, general classification, reproduction and transmission of microorganisms. Emphasis will be placed on the practice of sterile technique and its impact on infection control in the health care setting.

  2. Examine the structure and characteristics of microorganisms.
  3. Examine viruses, parasites, vectors and fungi.
  4. Analyze conditions that affect growth of microorganisms.
  5. Analyze relationships between organisms.
  6. Examine factors that enable pathogens to invade a host and cause a disease.
  7. Investigate the general mechanisms and immune responses that occur in the body as defenses against invasions by pathogens.
  8. Examine how tissues react and are restored to normal function following trauma.
  9. Examine Gram Positive Cocci, Gram Positive Bacilli and Actinobacteria..
  10. Examine Gram Negative Cocci and Spirochetes, Gram Negative Bacilli and Coccobacilli.
  11. Examine Disease of Circulatory and Central Nervous Systems and Diseases of the Skin and Internal Tissues
  12. Examine Diseases of Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary Systems and Diseases of Eyes, Ears, and Emerging, Recurring and Reappearing Diseases and Respiratory System.
