Problem Oriented Policing
Credits: 3
Course Number: 10-504-156
Course Description
10-504-156 PROBLEM ORIENTED POLICING...is a philosophy of policing in which routine calls or “problems” that are responded to by the police (whether acts of crime or disorderly behavior) are subject to analysis, in the hope that what is learned about the underlying nature of the problem will lead to more effective strategies in resolving similar incidents. Problem-oriented policing places a high value on responses that are preventative in nature, that are not dependent on the use of the criminal justice system, and that involve collaboration among public agencies, the community and the private sector.
