10-539-206 PRACTICUM 1...this supervised practicum experience will focus on application of skills and knowledge in either the community health setting or the insurance setting. (Prerequisites: 10-539-203, Prevention & Community Health; 10-539-204, Health Communications; 10-804-134, Mathematical Reasoning; Corequisite: 10-539-205, Accessing and Analyzing Health Information)
What will I learn?
- Experience 60 hour supervised experiential practice in the field of Health Navigation or similar field to health navigation.
- Evaluate client needs and potential barriers.
- Connect clients to resources and services.
- Optimize financial resources available to the client.
- Model professional behaviors and practices as a health navigator.
- Communicate effectively with the health care team, diverse client population and their families.
- Promote individual and community health.
