10-614-228 STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS …relates fundamental concepts of physics to architectural design and building construction. Physical properties of building materials and systems will be analyzed using basic principles of statics and strength of materials. (Prerequisites: 10-614-232, Structural Residential; 10-804-196, Trigonometry w Apps OR 10-804-113, College Tech Math 1A)

  3. Determine equilibrium reactions of force systems
  4. Calculate stress of building materials from force systems
  5. Calculate strain of building materials from force systems

  7. Calculate loads on tributary areas of structures
  8. Determine load paths in framing systems
  9. Compute maximum shear forces and bending moments in beams
  10. Determine wood beam sizes from framing system loads
  11. Compute wood column sizes from framing system loads
