10-614-152 PROTOTYPING-INTRODUCTION TO ...introduction to the prototype & design industry using a variety of shop tools and equipment, machine processes, and fabrication techniques with an emphasis on shop safety, hand skills, accuracy, professionalism, and working within specified tolerances to build three dimensional models.

What will I learn?

  1. Demonstrate safe operation of machinery in model shop.
  2. Utilize common power tools used in the Prototype & Design Industry
  3. Utilize common hand tools used in the Prototype & Design Industry
  4. Summarize the required skills used in the Prototyping Industry.
  5. Apply abrasives used in various sanding applications.
  6. Identify the different types of drills and their uses.
  7. Apply the principles of vacuum forming process
  8. Solve math equations specifically related to model building situations.
  9. Calculate a bill of materials.
  10. Select materials for specific model building applications.
  11. Differentiate the various fasteners used in the industry.
  12. Apply basic model finishes used in the prototype industry.
  13. Complete CNC startup procedure
  14. Utilize CNC Program
  15. Demonstrate operation of the laser engraver
  16. Utilize laser engraver software
