Course Description

10-546-101 PERSONAL WELLNESS & FITNESS ...this course introduces the seven-dimension model of wellness. Learners will apply the seven dimensions of wellness to develop and implement a personal wellness plan. (Prerequisite: Accepted in the Wellness & Health Promotion program OR accepted into the Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degree.)

What will I learn?

  1. Summarize health, wellness and fitness.
  2. Identify the dimensions of wellness.
  3. Apply the components of fitness and exercise programming to personal health and well-being.
  4. Apply the principals of nutrition to support personal health and well-being.
  5. Use goal setting and behavior modification techniques.
  6. Explore the effects of stress and stress management techniques.
  7. Analyze the role mental and emotional health plays in well-being.
  8. Assess the impact occupational and financial wellness has on health and well-being.
  9. Explain the role environment plays in health and well-being.
  10. Discuss issues of life expectancy, mortality and disease as they relate to health and well-being.
  11. Compare the concepts of self-care and health-care.
  12. Summarize the role lifestyle choices play in health and well-being.
  13. Create a personal wellness and fitness plan.
