10-001-172 LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE ...identifying problems and cultural challenges in the landscape; pruning techniques, insect/disease problems, weed identification; soil fertility; resolve situations in the field. (Prerequisites: 10-001-110, Horticulture-Introduction; 10-001-116, Horticultural Soils)

What will I learn?

  1. Examine the factors which affect landscape plantings.
  2. Identify the proper plant for existing site conditions.
  3. Demonstrate plant installation.
  4. Perform procedures necessary to keep plants healthy and attractive.
  5. Demonstrate proper pruning on trees and shrubs.
  6. Explain proper maintenance of landscape plants.
  7. Recommend reasonable control measures for insect problems.
  8. Recommend reasonable control measures for disease problems.
  9. Identify common landscape weed control strategies.
  10. Explain soil management, fertilizers and plant nutrition.
  11. Examine tools necessary for landscape maintenance.
  12. Identify the safety issues related to landscape maintenance.
