10-601-127 HVAC/R CONTROL CIRCUITS ...relay and HVAC/R electrical control circuit schematic development and analysis; wiring, testing and troubleshooting relay and HVAC/R control circuits; diagnose common HVAC/R system problems by analyzing the control circuit. (Prerequisites: 10-601-111, HVAC/R Electrical Fundamentals)

What will I learn?

  1. Explain the operation of a transformer.
  2. Select HVAC/R control transformers.
  3. Wire HVAC/R control transformers.
  4. Troubleshoot HVAC/R control transformers.
  5. Explain the operation of HVAC/R control relays.
  6. Troubleshoot HVAC/R control relays using an ohmmeter.
  7. Draw schematic/ladder diagrams of relay switching circuits from a sequence of operation.
  8. Wire relay switching circuits using the NWTC relay circuit boards.
  9. Write the sequence of operation of relay switching schematics.
  10. Troubleshoot live relay switching circuits using the NWTC relay circuit boards.
  11. Explain the methods used to control HVAC/R systems.
  12. Use a line voltage thermostat in basic refrigeration circuits.
  13. Use refrigeration pressure switches in basic refrigeration circuits.
  14. Expalin the operation of electro-mechanical low voltage thermostats.
  15. Wire an electro-mechanical low voltage heating/cooling circuit on the NWTC HVAC boards.
  16. Troubleshoot an electro-mechanical low voltage heating/cooling circuit on the NWTC HVAC boards.
