10-481-113 ENERGY INVESTMENT ANALYSIS ...emphasis on simple payback and life-cycle cost analysis, time value of money, cash flow equivalence, cost-benefit analysis, tax credits, depreciation, inflation and/or escalating fuel costs on energy investments and cost estimating. (Prerequisites: 10-481-109, Commercial HVACR Systems Analysis; 10-481-117, Energy Control Strategies; 10-481-115, Lighting Fundamentals)

  2. Use industry sources to find information on incentives and financing.
  3. Draw cash flow diagrams
  4. Perform simple interest calculations.
  5. Perform simple payback analysis of energy projects.
  6. Explain the concept of "time value of money."
  7. Perform discounted cash flow calculations related to energy projects.
  8. Perform benefit/cost (savings/investment) ratio calculations.
  9. Explain the concept of life cycle costing.
  10. Calculate life cycle cost analysis of energy projects.
  11. Describe the decision-making process that businesses use in selecting energy projects.
  12. Prepare a written economic analysis report that prioritizes a variety of potential energy projects.
