10-526-260 ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY CLINICAL 3... this assessment is designed to observe the sonographer in the active echocardiography lab, assess competencies learned throughout the echocardiography program journey, and coach the sonographer on opportunities for success. Students are routinely evaluated on professional growth, personal interactions, and technical ability. (Prerequisites: 10-526-259, Echocardiography Clinical 2)

What will I learn?

  1. Perform the normal routine complete echocardiogram with related measurements in a transthoracic echocardiogram with general independence.
  2. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram with related measurements to evaluate aortic root pathology with supervision.
  3. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate aortic valve stenosis with supervision.
  4. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate mitral valve stenosis or mitral valve prosthesis/repair with supervision.
  5. Perform or review a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate right heart valve stenosis or valve prosthesis/repair with supervision.
  6. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate aortic valve insufficiency with supervision.
  7. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate mitral valve regurgitation with supervision.
  8. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate right heart valve regurgitation with supervision.
  9. Perform transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate aortic prosthesis/repair with supervision.
  10. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate ischemic heart disease with supervision.
  11. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate patient with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy with supervision.
  12. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate patient with an obstructive or non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with supervision.
  13. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate patient with pericardial disease with supervision.
  14. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate known or suspected pulmonary disease and/or hypertension with supervision.
  15. Perform echocardiogram in a patient with atrial fibrillation with supervision.
  16. Perform use of a contrast enhancement agent during echocardiogram with assistance.
  17. Perform use of an agitated saline contrast study during echocardiogram with assistance.
  18. Perform post scan echocardiographic images during a pharmacological stress echocardiogram with assistance.
  19. Perform post scan echocardiographic images during an exercise stress echocardiogram with continuous guidance.
  20. Discuss team member roles, responsibilities and protocols of a Transesophageal echocardiogram.
  21. With non-dominant scanning hand, perform the routine complete echocardiogram with related measurements in a transthoracic echocardiogram on normal pathology with supervision.
