Course Description

10-526-209 DMS CLINICAL EXPERIENCE 1 ...opportunities to apply scanning skills in a clinical setting. Students concentrate on ultrasound examinations of the abdominal organs. Participation in this course will take place at a hospital or clinic. (Prerequisite: Accepted into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; Co-Requisite: 10-526-203, Scanning with Proficiency)

  1. Correlate medical record information pertinent to the exam
  2. Adhere to universal and standard safety precautions relatively independently
  3. Prepare imaging room
  4. Perform patient care with continuous guidance
  5. Transport patients with supervision
  6. Transfer patients with assistance
  7. Complete required patient documentation continuous guidance
  8. Participate as a member of the healthcare team with assistance
  9. Adhere to the sonographers code of ethics with supervision
  10. Complete a right upper quadrant abdominal examination with continual guidance
  11. Complete a renal ultrasound exam with continuous guidance
  12. Complete an aortic ultrasound exam with continuous guidance
  13. Perform image critique with continuous guidance
