Topics will include: material types, material testing, mechanical properties, heat treatment and materials selection.   1. Define material types for engineering.
  2. Practice material testing.
  3. Investigate elementary concepts in engineering materials.
  4. Analyze mechanical properties of materials.
  5. Describe heat treatment of steels.
  6. Describe heat treatment of non-ferrous metals.
  7. Evaluate physical and mechanical properties of ceramics.
  8. Evaluate physical and mechanical properties of polymers.
  9. Explain the properties of material selection and design considerations.
