(Prerequisite:10-601-457 HVACR Motors and Controls 1)

What will I learn?

  1. Explain the operation of a single-phase alternating current induction motor.
  2. Analyze the operation of a shaded pole single-phase alternating current induction motor.
  3. Analyze the operation of a split phase induction motor.
  4. Explain the operating characteristics of an electrical circuit with a capacitor.
  5. Analyze the operation of split phase induction motors which use capacitors.
  6. Troubleshoot split phase induction motors.
  7. Evaluate different types of mechanical drive systems.
  8. Analyze the operation of electronically commutated motors.
