The English Language Learners (ELL) program at NWTC began off-campus in the early 1970s with an influx of Vietnamese refugees. More Southeast Asians came to the Green Bay community in the 1970s and 1980s. The Hmong and Laotians arrived as refugees, and the ELL population grew rapidly. Hispanics began settling in the area in the early 1990s, the ELL program has several sites: Literacy Green Bay, KROC Center and NWTC Green Bay campus.
As part of our structured classes, we offer an ELL computer lab with software programs such as Rosetta Stone.
We teach all English skills including reading, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, pronunciation, work skills, computer skills, writing, culture, and civics. NWTC also offers classes tailored to companies and workers' needs.
Our schedule for classes is varied. We offer morning and evening classes. Our instructors are experienced in teaching as well as in cultural diversity.
If you or someone you know needs English, please contact us. We will get back to you as soon as possible. View the ELL brochure--English or Español. (You will need Adobe Reader to view the brochure.)
