Hands-On Learning in Action at NWTC

NWTC was featured live on FOX11 Good Day Wisconsin, highlighting how hands-on, career-focused education is shaping northeast Wisconsin’s workforce.
 

Timed with Governor Evers’ proclamation of February as Career & Technical Education Month, the segments gave viewers an inside look at what modern technical education looks like today — from high-tech labs and emerging technology to students training for some of the region’s most in-demand careers.
 

Throughout the morning, FOX11 spotlighted several NWTC programs, including:
 

• Information Technology and Cybersecurity: A live look at students monitoring a real-time cybersecurity dashboard, showing how today’s IT careers are hands-on, collaborative, and connected to industries far beyond tech — from healthcare and manufacturing to finance and education.
• Dental Hygiene: A first look at NWTC’s new Extended Reality (XR) lab, where students use augmented and virtual reality to practice procedures, build confidence, and sharpen skills before working with real patients.
• CNC and Advanced Manufacturing: An up-close with a robotic CNC system producing real-world parts used in cars, medical equipment, and everyday products — highlighting how modern manufacturing blends automation, precision, and problem-solving.
• Engineering and Design: A tour of robotics and automation labs, showing how students are training to design, program, and maintain the machines that power factories, warehouses, and advanced production systems across northeast Wisconsin.
