Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) is proud to announce that Carla Larson has been selected as the College’s 2026 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Ambassador. Larson, a Supply Chain Management student expected to graduate in May 2026, was chosen for her leadership, determination, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
To be considered for this honor, students must be nominated by faculty or staff and complete a competitive interview process that includes a formal presentation. One student from each of Wisconsin’s 16 technical college districts is selected to represent their college and advocate for technical education statewide. Ambassadors serve a one-year term, participating in appearances, presentations, and events on behalf of their institution and WTCS.
Larson was nominated by Angela Winker, lead faculty member in Supply Chain Management at NWTC.
“Carla has consistently demonstrated the qualities essential for an effective ambassador: leadership, professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to representing both her peers and the institution with excellence,” said Winker. “As a Supply Chain Management student, she brings strong strategic thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that translate seamlessly into this role.”
For Larson, the decision to pursue higher education came after years of balancing career and family responsibilities.
“For years, I hesitated to pursue college because I couldn’t see how it would realistically fit into my already full schedule,” said Larson. “When I discovered that NWTC offered 100% online programs with the option to attend part-time and progress at my own pace, everything changed. I had reached a point in my career where I kept hitting a ceiling without a degree. It became clear that if I wanted to grow—professionally and personally—it was time to invest in myself.”
She credits NWTC’s supportive environment as a key factor in her success.
“The faculty and staff at NWTC have played a crucial role in my success,” she said. “From enrollment to selecting the right program to receiving guidance on assignments, there has always been someone ready and genuinely eager to help. What stands out most is their passion—you can feel that they truly care about student success.”
Larson also emphasized the importance of her support system outside the classroom.
“I am incredibly grateful for my support system at home,” Larson added. “My husband has role-played presentations with me, my mom has offered steady encouragement, and my family has cheered me on through every milestone. I’ve never felt like I was doing this alone—I’ve had a team behind me every step of the way.”
As NWTC’s 2026 WTCS Ambassador, Larson will serve as a voice for students, sharing her story and advocating for the value and impact of technical education throughout Wisconsin.
