NWTC is now accepting applications for District Board of Trustees

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is now accepting applications for three positions on the NWTC District Board of Trustees. Board members play a key role in helping shape higher education and grow the economic vitality of the region.

“NWTC is a pillar to the workforce pipeline of Northeast Wisconsin, transforming lives through education and bolstering the industries that make our communities great,” said Dr. Kristen Raney, NWTC president. “With the growth of our region and demand for skilled workers, the role of our District Board members has never been more crucial. Serving as a District Board member is not merely a role; it’s an opportunity to shape the future of our thriving community.”

Applications for the following three Board positions are now being accepted, each for a three-year term: one employer representative, one employee representative, and one school district administrator.

The counties currently represented by these appointments are Brown/Outagamie, Kewaunee/Manitowoc, and Marinette. NWTC seeks candidates residing within the NWTC district to fill these positions.

In the appointment process, equal consideration is given to the general population distribution within the District and to the distribution of women and diverse populations on the Board in accordance with the Plan of Representation.

About the Positions:

Employer Representative: To qualify as an employer, you must receive earnings as payment for your service and possess the power to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline other employees or adjust employee grievances or effective recommend such action if in connection with the exercise of such power the person exercises independent judgement in relation to the power. Employer does not include a person acting in the capacity of officer or agent of a labor organization. At the time of their appointment, employers also must be actively engaged in business and employ others.

Employee Representative: You are considered an applicant in the employee representative category if you receive payment for work performed but do not qualify as an employer using the definition described above. An officer or agent of a labor organization automatically qualifies as an employee.

School District Administrator: You are considered an applicant in the school district administrator category if, as defined in s. 115.001(8), Wis. Stats., you are a school district superintendent, supervising principal, or other person who acts as the administrative head of a school district.
