The Board of Trustees of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College has voted to confer the title of President Emeritus to Dr. H. Jeffrey Rafn for his outstanding leadership and distinguished service to the College and community over the past 26 years.

The Board of Trustees designated this position on June 14 during Dr. Rafn’s final board meeting as NWTC’s president. He is the first executive in NWTC’s history to receive this prestigious honor.

“Dr. Rafn’s career at NWTC will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to student success, his inspirational leadership, and his innovative approach to serving students and our community. It is only fitting that he is the first leader in NWTC history to hold this title,” said NWTC’s Board of Trustees, Cathy Dworak.

The President Emeritus status is given to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and contributions to the College. They exemplify the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, civic responsibility, vision, and leadership.

This honorary role is given to a retired college present and identifies them as a continuing member of the College community.

“I am humbled to be designated President Emeritus and grateful to the Board of Trustees for this honor,” said Dr. Rafn. “Looking back over the last 26 years as NWTC’s president, we could not have accomplished the milestones without the shared vision, dedication, and expertise that exists at the College. I look forward to staying a part this outstanding institution as we continue this work.”

As part of Dr. Rafn’s responsibilities as President Emeritus, the current College president or Executive Leadership Team may call upon the President Emeritus to provide historical perspective or serve in various volunteer roles or capacities in support of the College.

Dr. Rafn will retire as NWTC’s President in June 2023 after serving one of the longest terms in the College’s 111-year history.
