NWTC Marinette hosts Master of Their Craft to celebrate students as they near graduation
Throughout the month of April, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Marinette Campus is hosting its annual Master of Their Craft competition. Students pursuing trades and engineering careers will compete within various events to showcase their skilled technical training amongst peers, industry partners, and the greater community. 

The Master of Their Craft Competition was designed to promote fellowship amongst the trades and engineering program and highlight student accomplishments while pursuing their degree.

Competitions take place throughout the month of April with the winners being announced at an award ceremony on April 27th at 11:30 a.m. at the NWTC Marinette Campus.

NWTC Marinette Campus Student Involvement Coordinator, Rebecca Denowski, shares “This fun and engaging competition will showcase comradery amongst our students in a variety of trade specific activities. It’s amazing to witness their skills and passion for their aspiring career.”

Automotive Skills Challenge (April 4) 
Students within the automotive program will utilize their training and skills toward a hands-on industry assignment. Taking place on April 4th at NWTC Marinette Campus’ Automotive Lab, students will be led by instructor, Wally Remic. This challenge will be closed to the public and amongst student peers. 

“These students are applying their knowledge and doing hands-on testing to challenge and showcase their skills learned from the program thus far. This is a terrific opportunity to gain experience and confidence as they prepare for these high-demand careers,” said NWTC Automotive Technician Instructor, Wally Remic.

Plasma Design Challenge (April 10-12) 
Welding students, under the direction of NWTC instructors Tom Topper and Curt LaChapelle, will compete in a Plasma Design Challenge throughout the week of April 10th. Participants will design a project using the plasma welding process to then display at the open house for the community to view. The open house will take place on Wednesday, April 12th from 7:30 a.m. – 9:45 p.m. at the NWTC Marinette Campus Event Center. Later that day from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., the public and local industry partners will be judging the finished products where student winners will be awarded a prize.  

Automation Wiring Challenge (April 18) 
Automation Engineering Technology and Electro-Mechanical Technology students will compete in a live Automation Wiring Challenge on Tuesday, April 18th from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the NWTC Marinette Campus Tech Hall. This challenge will be led by NWTC instructor, Jess LaBrosse. The public will also be invited to attend this competition.

Machine Tool Challenge (April 26) 
Machine Tool students are designing a creative project that will be displayed at the NWTC Marinette Campus Event Center April 26th from 7:30 a.m. – 9:45 p.m. Local industry partners will judge and award the projects that afternoon from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

All competition winners will be announced on NWTC Marinette Campus’ Facebook and Instagram channels on April 27th following the award ceremony.
