Northeast Wisconsin Technical College State Ambassador Denisse Arjon-Rivera, along with student ambassadors from all 16 Wisconsin Technical Colleges, will be honored Monday, November 2 at 2020 Wisconsin Technical College System Ambassador Virtual Recognition.

The event recognizes the 16 students throughout the Wisconsin Technical College System chosen this year for the District Student Ambassador program. Students in the program develop greater public awareness and appreciation for the role technical colleges play in the economy and society.

"I am very excited," Denisse Arjon-Rivera said. "I feel appreciated by the WTCS. I am thankful for the opportunity to represent my college and have a voice for the voiceless."

Arjon-Rivera and her fellow ambassadors will share their technical college stories during the one-hour program. The event is being held virtually this year due to COVID-19.

"I know not everyone is an outspoken student," Arjon-Rivera said. "I want to be the vessel for those who want change. Finding ways accommodate students' needs; technology resources or financial help. I want to help find the barriers so we can break them."

Arjon-Rivera, who is a first-generation college student, is set to graduate in December with a degree in Design and Graphic Technology. She will also have the honor of addressing fellow graduates as the commencement speaker at NWTC's Mid-Year Graduation on December 17 at 6:00 p.m.
