Laboratory Science Technology Student Named Outstanding Chemistry Student of the Year
Congratulations to NWTC student John Sawyer for being named the College’s Outstanding Chemistry Student of the year. He is graduating May 19 from the Laboratory Science Technology Program.

Each year, the Northeast Wisconsin Local Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) recognizes area College Outstanding Chemistry Students for their achievements in the sciences.

Throughout Sawyer’s time at NWTC he has maintained a 4.0 GPA in all courses.

This semester, he designed a research experiment to find out how similar genetically modified (GMO) versions of fruits and vegetables are to normal non-GMO fruits and vegetables.

Sawyer’ timeframe was slightly altered due to COVID-19, he completed his research and presented it faculty in early May.

His instructors say they are proud and excited for his next steps in life and to have him as a graduate of NWTC and the Laboratory Science Technology program.
