¡Pleibol! In the Barrios and the Big Leagues is a vibrant bilingual exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. The exhibition explores how generations of Latinos/as have shaped America's pastime and helped make baseball the game it is today. From neighborhood sandlots and community teams to the Major Leagues, ¡Pleibol! highlights the powerful role baseball has played in Latino communities for nearly a century.
Through photographs, stories, and historical perspectives gathered from communities across the United States and Puerto Rico, the exhibition reveals how baseball brings people together across race, class, and gender while reflecting larger themes of identity, belonging, and the American experience.
