A Place at the Table: Exploring the Somali and Somali American Experiences in Northeast Wisconsin

Somalis face discrimination both as Africans in America and as Muslims in America. In spite of these challenging conditions, they have forged livelihoods and created a thriving community here in Northeast Wisconsin. Said Hassan;  president and co-founder of Community Services Agency Inc (COMSA), a refugee and immigrant resource center in Green Bay,  will explore the adjustment experiences of the Somali community, as well as the factors influencing them. Said will help us understand how these factors and the overall experience of adjustment influence the negotiation and construction of individual and collective identity of the Somalis in NEW.
