Hour of Code

Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet, from agriculture to zoology. But only 35% of all high schools teach computer science.  The good news is, we’re on our way to change this!

If you've heard about the Hour of Code before, you might know that it made history.  Over 100 million students have tried an Hour of Code.

With the Hour of Code, computer science has been on homepages of Google, MSN, Yahoo!, and Disney.  Over 100 partners have joined together to support this movement.  Leaders like President Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote their first lines of code as part of the campaign.

Last year, NWTC had over 130 students participate. This year, we’re on a mission to make it even bigger! Join us for our 6th annual NWTC Hour of Code event on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:30.

Note: Registration closes December 6th, 2021

You can attend the event virtually or in-person at the Green Bay, Marinette, Sturgeon Bay, Oconto Falls, Crivitz, Aurora, Shawano, and Luxemburg campuses/centers.  Due to COVID face masks are required.

Our instructors will guide you through simple and fun tutorials featuring familiar characters from movies such as Frozen, Star Wars, and Moana.  Elementary, Middle, High School students and the general public are all welcome to attend.

Admission is free, and no experience in programming is needed – we will provide everything you need, including helpful attendants!  There will also be drawings for prizes and t-shirts for the participants.
