General Studies Part-Time Instructor Hiring Process
Welcome and thank you for your interest in employment with the General Studies department! We are excited for your to begin your journey as a prospective part-time faculty candidate at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
All prospective candidates must complete each step to be considered for district-wide employment as outlined below:
Step 1: Application Process
Part A- Apply On-Line
Complete the online application following the steps below:

Part B- Transcripts
Please send all college transcripts from any accredited college attended to NWTC’s Human Resources Partner, Dawn Rentmeester. Human Resources will need to review the transcripts to determine the areas in which a candidate is certified to teach. For initial approval, unofficial* copies of transcripts are acceptable.
Transcripts can be sent in any of the following ways to Dawn Rentmeester in Talent & Culture:
- Scan, attach, and email transcripts (PDF or JPG format preferred) to dawn.rentmeester@nwtc.edu
- Fax copies of all transcripts to the Talent & Culture department (Attn: Dawn Rentmeester) to 920-498-5532
- Deliver paper copies directly to Dawn in the Talent & Culture office on the Green Bay campus in room CC224
- Mail to the Talent & Culture department, using the following address:

Please note: Official transcripts in a sealed envelope will be required if a candidate successfully completes the hiring process.
Part C- Skill Survey
Talent & Culture will send an email requesting references. It is required to submit 5 references with at least 2 supervisors included. The reference check must be successfully completed to continue through the hiring process.
Part D- Applicant Pre-Screen Process (as applicable)
For some subject areas, pre-screening of applicants may be necessary. If this applies, you will be contacted for an over the phone and/or virtual interview.
Step 2: Classroom Observation
Candidates will be provided dates and times to participate in a classroom observation. As part of finalizing the details for an observation, candidates will need to complete an acceptable criminal background check.
What can I expect in this phase?
- Candidate will have time to review course materials, syllabi, and meet with faculty
- Complete applicable criminal background check form(s)
- Observe a class within the subject area of interest
- This could consist of 1 to 3 hours of lecture and also a lab session (as applicable)
- For Basic education, candidates typically observe a Green Bay campus offering and an off-site location offering which totals 1 to 3 hours of lecture
Step 3: Interview & Teaching Demonstration
Plan for the interview and teaching demonstration to take approximately 90 minutes.
As part of the teaching demonstration, candidates will prepare a 10-15 minute lecture in their area of expertise that will include a short activity and/or handout. Candidates will present to faculty and the Dean/Associate Dean who oversee that instructional area. This team will assess instructional style, effectiveness, and quality of instruction. The topic for presentation will be provided prior with ample time to prepare.
Step 4: Final Paperwork, Official Transcripts, and Mandatory Training
If a candidate successfully completes the hiring process, they will be extended a formal offer of hire. All paperwork related to hiring and official transcripts will need to be submitted to the NWTC Human Resources Department. Next, new employees will be required to sign up and complete the mandatory “New Part-time Faculty On Boarding and Technology Training”. This provides an opportunity to meet college staff, learn about College standards and resources, in addition to meeting other new part-time faculty.
