10-605-162 LINEAR ELECTRONICS 3: PASSIVE/ACTIVE FILTERS ...review the characteristics of the passive RL, RC, RLC active filters, introduction to all types of commonly used passive and active filters. (Pre-requisite: 10-605-161, Linear Electronics 2: JFET Amps; 10-660-112, Electronics 3: Op-Amps-Basic)

What will I learn?

  1. Calculate component values to perform high pass and low pass filter functions.
  2. Analyze the response of first and second order RLC filters.
  3. Construct circuits of RC, RL, and RLC filters
  4. Examine the concepts of impedance matching with resonant circuits
  5. Determine the transfer characteristics of active filters

Class Notes

1. IMPORTANT: Each class consists of lecture delivered in person plus additional time in the Tech Hall lab, Room ET129 during the posted open lab times.  Plan approximately 30 hours to complete both portions of this class.

2. IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  Tech Hall Lab, Room ET129, is open Mon-Thurs 8am-8pm; Fridays 8am-3pm; Saturdays 8am-1pm.  The Lab will observe all College closure holidays and breaks.

3. This course may require purchase of a parts kit in ET129.  Please reference the class syllabus for details.
