10-503-730 FIREFIGHTER-LEVEL 2 ...complete all Level 2 firefighter objectives as identified by NFPA consistent with Wisconsin Technical College System Board defined standards that comply with ILHR regulations. (Prerequisite: 10-503-142, Fire Fighting Principles; 10-503-153, Hazardous Material Operations)

What will I learn?

  1. Examine the fundamentals of fire suppression and detection systems.
  2. Explore the various types of communications systems and guidelines for communicating various reports.
  3. Develop pre-incident plans to be utilized during incident response.
  4. Explore various fire attack strategies.
  5. Perform basic communications presentations.
  6. Incorporate the proper procedures for conducting an initial size-up, first in report and initial company tactical assignments.
  7. Describe the various tool and equipment utilized for rescue and extrication.

  • **PSTC DAYS**

  • To be eligible for this class, students must be state certified to Firefighter 1 (which includes 20 hours of Haz Mat Operations) and provide the certification number listed on your state certificate the first day of class. Live fire training (Practical) dates will be determined the first day of class by the lead instructor, and are mandatory for satisfactory completion of this class. Satisfactory completion of the State Written Exam and Practical are required for FF2 State Certification. Fire training classes require a complete set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Students are also required to purchase boots, hood, and gloves that meet the current NFPA standard. Textbooks are not state funded, available at the NWTC Bookstore, and the responsibility of the student.
