10-090-377 FARM BUSINESS PLANNING... will explore good management techniques and economic principles, as well as the link to the decision-making process to develop the framework for successful farm operation and organization. Students will be exposed to the various compliance issues in the agriculture industry - from environmental to animal welfare. Students will develop the leadership skills needed to fulfill occupational, social, and civic responsibilities. (Prerequisite:10-090-303, Agribusiness Economics)

  2. Apply farm management and decision making principles.
  3. Develop business goals and strategies for achieving them.
  4. Analyze different types agribusinesses and their organizational structures.
  5. Analyze management accounting processes and information.
  6. Analyze records to document performance, manage resources, and estimate profitability of choices.
  7. Evaluate insurance and risk management needs of agribusinesses.
  8. Analyze the human capital and resource needs of agribusinesses.
  9. Evaluate the impacts federal and state legal requirements have on agribusiness operations.
  10. Assess eligibility criteria and utility of agricultural programs offered by federal and state governments.
  11. Explain interpretations of laws pertaining to agricultural commerce.
  12. Develop a farm business plan and supporting documents.
