10-546-109 EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY ...develops an understanding of the functionality and responses of cardiovascular and strength training exercise on the human body. (Prerequisite: 10-546-105, Wellness Kinesiology)

  1. Identify the structure and function of exercising muscle.
  2. Summarize bio-energetics and muscle metabolism by describing how fuel/energy for working muscles is created and utilized.
  3. Describe the structures and functions of the endocrine system related to exercise and physical activity.
  4. Summarize the structures and functions of the nervous system related to exercise and physical activity.
  5. Summarize the structures and functions of the cardiovascular system as it relates to physical activity and exercise.
  6. Summarize the structure and functions of the respiratory systems as it relates to physical activity and exercise.
  7. Identify the principals of exercise training.
  8. Examine the effects of resistance training on the human body.
  9. Examine the effects of aerobic and anaerobic exercise on the human body.
  10. Examine key concepts related to sport and performance training.
  11. Explain the effects of environment on exercise and sport performance.
  12. Discuss age and sex considerations in sport and exercise.
