Course Description

10-526-254 ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY CLINICAL 1... this assessment is designed to observe the sonographer in the active echocardiography lab, assess competencies learned throughout the echocardiography program journey, and coach the sonographer on opportunities for success. Students are routinely evaluated on professional growth, personal interactions, and technical ability. (Prerequisites: 10-526-252, Adult Echocardiography)

What will I learn?

  1. Adhere to universal and standard safety precautions with supervision.
  2. Perform patient care with continuous guidance.
  3. Complete required patient documentation continuous guidance.
  4. Participate as a member of the healthcare team with assistance.
  5. Adhere to the sonographers code of ethics with supervision.
  6. Perform the routine 2D/M-Mode and Doppler parasternal views with related measurements in transthoracic echocardiogram with continuous guidance.
  7. Perform the routine 2D/M-mode and Doppler apical views with related measurements in transthoracic echocardiogram with continuous guidance.
  8. Perform the routine 2D/M-mode and Doppler subcostal views with related measurements in transthoracic echocardiogram with continuous guidance.
  9. Perform the routine 2D/M-mode and Doppler suprasternal notch views with related measurements in transthoracic echocardiogram with continuous guidance.
  10. Perform ventricular systolic dysfunction assessment by two-dimensional and spectral Doppler analysis with continuous guidance.
  11. Perform left ventricular diastolic dysfunction assessment by two-dimensional and spectral Doppler analysis with continuous guidance.
  12. Perform transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate valvular stenosis (any valve) with continuous guidance.
  13. Perform a transthoracic echocardiogram to evaluate valvular regurgitation (any valve) with continuous guidance.
