Course Description

10-660-103 DIGITAL 3: REGISTERS ...analyze and design asynchronous up counters, down counters, presettable counters, ring counters, and Johnson counters, and analyze synchronous counters. Analyze and design various types of shift registers. (Prerequisite: 10-660-102, Digital 2: Sequential)

  2. Design asynchronous counter circuits.
  3. Design various counters using IC counters.
  4. Analyze the operation of synchronous up-counter circuits.
  5. Design using various types of asynchronous and synchronous counters.
  6. Design circuits using special counters.
  7. Analyze various PIPO shift register applications.
  8. Analyze various SISO shift register applications.
  9. Analyze various PISO shift register applications.
  10. Analyze various SIPO shift register applications.

Class Notes

1. IMPORTANT: Each class consists of lecture delivered in person plus additional time in the Tech Hall lab, Room ET129 during the posted open lab times.  Plan approximately 30 hours to complete both portions of this class.

2. IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  Tech Hall Lab, Room ET129, is open Mon-Thurs 8am-8pm; Fridays 8am-3pm; Saturdays 8am-1pm.  The Lab will observe all College closure holidays and breaks.

3. This course may require purchase of a parts kit in ET129.  Please reference the class syllabus for details.
