NWTC provides Microsoft 365 accounts and email access to active students only, following Microsoft’s licensing rules.

Your @mymail.nwtc.edu email is your official college email for communicating with instructors and staff.

You can find the full NWTC Student Email Policy in the NWTC Student Handbook.

Email and Microsoft 365 Access

If you are applying to or accepted into a program, enrolled in a class, or earning college credit through Dual Credit, you’ll receive a @mymail.nwtc.edu email account.

This becomes your main way to communicate with NWTC staff and instructors.

After You Graduate or Finish Classes

Your access to Microsoft 365 changes after you’re no longer an active student.

  • Your Microsoft 365 license will deactivate 90 days after graduation or course completion.
  • After that date, you’ll lose access to your @mymail.nwtc.edu email, OneDrive files, and all Microsoft 365 apps.
  • Office programs downloaded to your computer or phone will switch to view-only mode. You can open and print files but not create or save new ones.

Good news: Your class history, transcripts, and grades will not be affected.

You can always access them through your Student Portal.

If you enroll in another class or program before your deactivation date, your NWTC account will stay active. If you enroll after your account has been deactivated, it will be reactivated, but your past emails and OneDrive files will not be restored.

Before Your Account Deactivates

Email: Save Your Messages and Contacts

  • Create a personal email account (like Outlook, Gmail, or Yahoo).
  • Tell your contacts to use your new email address instead of your @nwtc.edu account.
  • Update any third-party accounts that use your @nwtc.edu email.
  • If needed, export your NWTC email, contacts, and calendar. Follow Microsoft’s export directions.

OneDrive: Save Your Files

  1. Log in to your Student Portal.
  2. Select Microsoft 365, then OneDrive.
  3. Choose the files you want to keep and click Download.
  4. Save your files to a personal cloud (like OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox) or a USB/external drive.

If you need help downloading or transferring your files, contact the Student Help Desk.

I’ve Applied but Am Not Yet Admitted

You’ll receive your @nwtc.edu email and Microsoft 365 access after you are admitted into a program or course.

Before that, NWTC will contact you using the personal email listed in your Student Portal. You can update your personal email address anytime in your portal settings.

If you are not yet admitted or enrolled:

  • Your Student Portal and Workday access remain active for 90 days.
  • After that, your account becomes inactive, and you’ll need to recover it before logging in again.
