32-420-318 FIXTURE & TOOL MAKING ...the learner will use various types of work holding and locating methods, produce a tool or fixture to be used in a typical manufacturing process. (Prerequisites: 31-420-369, CNC/Machining Fundamentals 4; 32-420-327, 3D CAM Programming; 32-420-326, EDM & Waterjet Machining; 32-420-336, CNC Machining Center)

What will I learn?

  1. Identify classes of jigs, fixtures and tools from a tooling print
  2. Apply locating and support concepts to jig and fixture design.
  3. Explore various operations to complete components on a tooling print
  4. Apply the principles of design economics on a jig or fixture
  5. Select common components used for power fixturing setups
  6. Apply the concept of modular tooling as it relates to industrial manufacturing
  7. Create a jig or fixture to be used in an industrial manufacturing process.
