10-605-103 BIOMEDICAL INSTRUMENTATION-DENTISTRY ...introduces the fundamental technical information necessary for work on medical devices in the clinical dental setting supporting the technology used in patient care. It provides a working vocabulary and baseline knowledge as well as an understanding of medical dental equipment and the application to the clinical dental setting. What will I learn?

  1. Identify various types of dental equipment used in clinics, their functions, and principles of operation.
  2. Explain the relationship between the anatomy and physiology of the mouth and teeth and the use and set up of dental equipment.
  3. Analyze the roles and responsibilities of medical staff in dental clinics, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
  4. Apply knowledge of dental equipment design, operation, and maintenance to diagnose problems and perform basic repairs and calibrations.
  5. Communicate effectively with dental staff, patients, and healthcare professionals about dental equipment and procedures to ensure safe and effective use of equipment and promote positive patient outcomes.
