Message from NWTC President Dr. Rafn: Update on COVID-19 Guidance

Dear Students,

For those who are starting your educational journey in the second eight-week session, welcome to NWTC! For those who are continuing, welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you found time to relax and enjoy the break. Please read this entire message for important updates and for information about our plans for on-campus, in-person learning for the summer and fall semesters.

I want to thank all our returning students for your efforts to keep our campus community safe this spring semester. Together, we have continued to keep the number of positive COVID-19 cases on campus to a very small number. For your safety and the safety of our entire campus community, we will continue to follow our campus COVID-19 guidelines: please stay home if you are ill, wear a face covering while on campus or in any NWTC facility, and practice physical distancing. The College is encouraging anyone who travelled within the United States during spring break to consider their risk of exposure to COVID-19 and decide for themselves if they should be tested or should self-quarantine. The specific recommendations and activities that may place you at higher risk for Covid-19 can be found at After you Travel. If you decide to get tested or to self-quarantine, please notify your instructor(s). If you traveled outside of the United States while on break, please note the CDC has specific guidelines for COVID-19 testing and quarantining.

The CDC continues to update its guidance as more of the population receives the COVID-19 vaccine. We will update the COVID-19 Student Guidelines with the CDC guidelines. Your student email, the COVID-19 Updates and Resources website, and the student portal continue to be the best sources of up-to-date campus information. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services provides updates about eligibility and availability of the COVID-19 vaccine on this site.

As we look forward to the summer and fall semesters, we are preparing for a return of all in-person classes, campus services, and campus activities. At the Green Bay Campus, we plan to re-open the student commons, resume on-campus student life activities, provide on-campus food-service, and re-open the gym facilities for the fall semester. We will also resume activities and services at our Marinette and Sturgeon Bay campuses and our regional learning centers. Some courses, activities, and services will be available during the summer session.

For the most up-to-date information about summer and fall plans, please visit Onward NWTC.

Whether your courses are in-person, online, or blended, there are many resources available to you, and we are all here to help you succeed.

Keep soaring

Dr. Jeff Rafn
NWTC President
