Remote learning and graduation update

Author: Kara Leiterman

Thursday March 26, 2020
Greetings NWTC students,
As spring break draws to a close, we are all preparing for your return to classes. While that looks different than most of us have anticipated, we are ready to focus on your success virtually!

This week, Governor Evers issued Emergency Order #12 requiring all Wisconsin residents to stay at home with exceptions for essential activities until April 24, 2020. This email explains what this means for you as an NWTC student.

Campus facilities remain closed to students and the general public
The Governor’s order does not allow for students to be on campus. All NWTC campus facilities remain closed to students and the general public until the end of the emergency order. Please stay home and follow the emergency order.

Update on Courses
The extended spring break ends March 28. NWTC will continue with its plans to offer courses online and flexible learning starting March 29 and continuing for the rest of the semester.

Most labs and hands-on courses will also be taught in a flexible format. Those that cannot be taught flexibly will be postponed until the emergency orders are lifted. Students will receive information directly from their deans and/or instructors regarding any specific instructions on their programs via email and Blackboard.

Remote Access Resources
We have created a webpage where you can find access to all campus resources. You can find this on our student COVID-19 webpage. We will continue to update this page as we gather information about our resources. Please check back often. If you have immediate questions and cannot find the information on the web, please feel free to call 920-498-5444 or use the chat feature on the webpage.

Graduation
We know that the graduation ceremony is important to students and their families. We want to provide our graduating students with an opportunity to celebrate this important achievement.  The Green Bay graduation ceremony has been postponed to June 26, 2020.  Graduation ceremonies will also be held in Marinette and Sturgeon Bay in June. Those dates and locations will be announced as soon as they are available.
Remember to check our webpage for regular updates.

Finally, we’d like to end today with a message from Dr. Colleen Simpson, Vice President of Student Services. You can watch here.
