NWTC to expand Baking program in Sturgeon Bay

In response to increased demand for training and assistance in the food service industry in Door County, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is set to expand the Baking and Pastry certificate at NWTC- Sturgeon Bay beginning in January 2020. 
“We are thrilled to expand the Baking program to our Sturgeon Bay campus. This is a great opportunity for the Door County community to help build workforce development in the area,” said NWTC Dean of Business, Information and Technology Mike Vander Heiden.Baking bread
The Baking and Pastry program is designed for those who have a passion for baking or those who dream of owning a cafe or bakery.
The program will be in located in the state-of-the-art kitchen at NWTC- Sturgeon Bay campus.
“After speaking with Door County employers, we are so excited to work with them and the community to strengthen the culinary industry workforce. This program is designed to expand a passion for baking for all ages,” said NWTC Culinary Instructor Lisa Hickman.
Graduates will be prepared for employment in different areas of bakery food production including bread, pies, tarts, cakes, pastries, custards, restaurant quality desserts, sauces and chocolate.
