Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) has been named a finalist for the 2018 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Excellence Award for Advancing Diversity. The Awards of Excellence recognize the exceptional work among the nation's two-year colleges.

At NWTC, one of College’s main values is, everyone has worth. The value statement reads, “We are committed to embracing the worth of every staff member and student, creating a place for all people, and promoting the respectful environment necessary for intellectual and personal discovery.”

In recent years, the NWTC has been evaluating and aligning its equity related practices, initiatives, and goals to advance student success. This process is vital to the College’s continued success as the demographics and needs of its customers continue to diversify.

As a College community, we see our differences as something to be respected and learned from. This valuing of each person’s inherent worth means that we strive to treat all others with respect, compassion, value and fairness.
One of the most recent and visible aspects of NWTC’s continued commitment to creating a welcoming environment is the 2016 introduction of the iRespect campaign —aimed at promoting inclusion.

iRespect is a reimaged approach to embracing and respecting our differences, creating a welcoming and safe place for everyone and promoting the respectful environment that promotes knowledge, culture and positive relationships.

iRespect! is all about nurturing an inclusive NWTC. We believe that inclusion inspires excellence.
The Advancing Diversity winner will be announced at the annual AACC convention April 28 to May 1. A complete list of all the finalists is available on the AACC website.

NWTC was a finalist for AACC Excellence Award in the Student Success category in 2016 and 2014.
