Record year for GED completion at NWTC Marinette

On June 12, 2017, faculty and staff at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) Marinette will celebrate the success of 31 GED (General Education Development) completers.
Thirty-one people completed their GED at NWTC Marinette this year, which is a record for the College’s Marinette campus since the start of the computer-based 2014 GED test series.
During the 2016-17 school year, 29 people earned a GED certificate and two high school students earned an HSED through the Marinette campus. This is compared to 21 GED completers in 2016 and 18 in 2015.
NWTC district wide (Green Bay, Marinette and Sturgeon Bay campuses) 253 people received their GED certificates in the 2016-17 school year.
Of the 29 individuals earning a GED certificate this year; 17 are public test-takers, and 12 others are incarcerated at Marinette County Jail. Three of the public test-takers started their GED while incarcerated at Marinette County Jail and completed their work at NWTC Marinette upon release. 
NWTC Marinette will be celebrating the success of these individuals on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a casual celebration at the College’s Marinette campus.
