NWTC announces newly-accredited College of Business

Tuesday February 7, 2017
NWTC this week announced the accreditation of all of its business programs, establishing Northeast Wisconsin's first accredited two-year College of Business. NWTC College of Business Dean Randy Smith said the accreditation is a sign of quality and a tool for students interested in pursuing college after NWTC.

"If you’re looking to earn a high-quality, accredited degree in two years or less, we’re the only one in Northeast Wisconsin," Smith said. "If you want to earn a college degree now, to get or keep a good job, and have credits that can transfer into a bachelor's degree later on, that accreditation is important to having your credits recognized nationally. This is just another reason that NWTC's College of Business is a great choice."

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) www.acbsp.org Associate Degree Board of Commissioners has awarded Northeast Wisconsin Technical College accreditation of its business programs.  Based on the criteria of the National Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of the institutional leadership, strategic planning processes, relationships with the community, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials and services, and educational support to determine whether or not the institution offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrates continuous quality improvement.

"Northeast Wisconsin Technical College has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement" -- ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale

Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs and degrees offered by Northeast Wisconsin Technical College meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“Northeast Wisconsin Technical College has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2017 in Anaheim, California, USA, on June 26. “This accreditation is evidence that NWTC is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”

The College of Business at NWTC offers degrees, diplomas, certificates and continuing education opportunities in Business, Digital Arts, Information Technology, Legal Services and Supply Chain Management. The new accreditation is accompanied by new facilities that will provide more space for more hands-on education opportunities, more blade servers, more dual monitors, more office collaboration technology, more digital media studio space and what is believed to be the largest student data center in Northeast Wisconsin.
