January celebration of Martin Luther King: "The Time is Always Right to Do What Is Right"

Brown County celebrates Martin Luther King on Jan. 13Join us for a free celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King and the cultures in Brown County! The 23rd Annual Community Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday will be held Saturday, Jan. 13 in the NWTC Student Center Commons (2740 W. Mason Street, Green Bay) from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 Noon. The family-friendly event is organized and sponsored by area academic and cultural organizations, and all are welcome.

At Brown County MLK 2018, you can...

  • Enjoy live dance and musical performances by local artists
  • Hear the inspiring words of Dr. King
  • Share in a free lunch of delicious cuisine 
  • See the work of area students who competed in the annual MLK poster, essay and poetry contest 

K-12 students: Enter the MLK Poster - Essay - Poetry Contest by Jan. 3!

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade from Brown County and the Oneida Nation are invited to participate in a poster/essay/poetry contest that shares this year's theme, "The Time Is Always Right To Do What Is Right." Entries are due at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Contest winners will be announced at the celebration.

The celebration is being organized by representatives from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College; St. Norbert College; University of Wisconsin - Green Bay; Green Bay Public Schools; NEWAAA; the African-American, Hmong and Hispanic communities; Humana; and other volunteers.
